OVERVIEW OF FPMTC ACTIVITIES (YEAR 2)
 
 
ACTIVITY 1
Annual Training Meeting

Annual Training Institute

FPMTC will conduct one 2-3 day male family planning and reproductive health training meeting for up to 150 persons.

This meeting will focus on providing and interpreting up-to-date research and empirical findings useful to administrators and providers of Title X male family planning programs.

FPMTC will conduct one four-day on-site pre- and in-service training program for up to 20 Title X project personnel.

This institute will focus on providing training on the programmatic and technological aspects of successful male family planning programs. It will consist of in-depth skills-building opportunities for administrators and providers of Title X male family planning programs.

Provider Competencies
ACTIVITY 4
Clinical Updates

FPMTC will identify competencies for various levels of providers in male family planning programs.

These competencies will be developed with input from academics and providers, and will be the bases for FPMTC training events.

FPMTC will provide two-hour clinical update training sessions at five RTC Continuing Education Conferences in Year Two.

The topic(s) of these updates will be determined in consultation with OFP, after soliciting input from RTCs and RPCs. If feasible, a curriculum will be developed and made available for use at RTC Continuing Education Conferences in subsequent years.

Expert Panels

Training Needs Assessment

FPMTC will convene up to three expert panels of up to 15 persons each around specific male family planning and reproductive health topic areas.

Topics and products of these panels will be decided in consultation with OFP.

FPMTC will conduct a biennial assessment of training needs of Title X personnel in male programs.

In Year 2 this assessment will be achieved through a variety of means, including RPC/RTC participation in provider competencies development (See Activity 3.), quarterly conference calls with RPCs and RTC Directors (See Activity 7(2).), and compilation of a male program registry that will include programmatic information about the various male projects (See Activity 8(3).).

Establish Communication and Dissemination Modes

Resource Development

1) FPMTC will develop and maintain a free-standing website.
2) FPMTC will conduct quarterly conference calls with RPCs and representative RTCs regarding issues of mutual interest relative to male family planning programs.

The website will continue to contain information about all training center activities, and invite postings of RTC activities and events. It will also contain links to RTC websites and other websites pertinent to male family planning programs. The array of other resources, such as the electronic library, etc. will continue (See Activity 8.).

FPMTC will develop the following resources for Title X male programs:
1) Electronic Library
2) Educational Resource Inventory
3) Male Program Registry
4) Self-help Brochure Kit

These resources will be made available on the FPMTC website. Trainings in the uses of these resources will be included in the Annual Training Meeting (Activity 1) and the Annual Training Institute (Activity 2). There will also be online instructional materials available.


ACTIVITY 9
Evaluation

An evaluation plan will be developed for each of the above activities. For each activity specific overall and component objectives will be derived that will provide the bases for evaluation.
