Mike Kendall celebrated his 30th year in Human Services in 2007. His
experience includes working with adolescents in institutional, shelter, and
in-home settings; as well as working with adults in correctional and in-home
settings; both from clinical and administrative perspectives. He is
currently the Residential Manager for MECCA Services in Des Moines, Iowa, a
70 bed residential treatment center that serves individuals with drug,
alcohol, or gambling problems. He also provides presentations and
consultations on a variety of topics, most focused around the area of
fatherhood and male focused programming.
Mike is also active in the community as a founding member of the Polk County
Men’s Health Consortium, the Polk County Male Involvement Initiative and
Future Net the statewide network for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and
Parenting, which he also served twice as the President of their Board of
Directors. Mike has also served two terms as mayor of the community he
resides in.
Most importantly, Mike is married has two sons and two stepdaughters, 2
dogs, and 2 cats that all manage to put his profession and life in
perspective.
